Leadership

August 8th, 2010

Effective leadership can make the difference between business as usual and phenomenal business results. Leadership requires attention, intention and a focus on many complex human interactions to draw out the best in others. There is no simple formula for great leadership. There are, however, many ways we can help you align the leadership in your organization for predictable, sustainable results. Here are some examples of personal leadership struggles:

  • Our brains are wired for automation, not change, so change is hard. Often, leaders expect to be able to simply tell someone to change (stop doing something, start doing something, do something in a different way) and are disappointed with the results.
  • Leaders often over-invest in sharing WHAT expectations of work are and limit or even avoid sharing HOW it can be done.
  • Creating an environment of fear happens slowly and with limited feedback, so that a leader can discover herself in boiling water without being aware of how she got there.
  • Leaders regularly focus on the wrong things, including profit and shareholder interests. These are important, of course, but there is no direct line of sight to these – you get there through a labyrinth of effective processes and interactions.

If any of these areas strikes a cord with you, we want to help. Feel free to contact us for additional information!
